Hillsgrove, Rhode Island, originally known as Hill’s Grove, is a quiet little neighborhood in west-central Rhode Island. It is known for its proximity to the capital of Rhode Island, Providence. This area was originally a tiny Dutch settlement that later became a permanent part of Rhode Island under an agreement between the Rhode Island and Dutch governments. This neighborhood is unique because it is not located in any of Rhode Island’s traditional urban areas or business districts. It is located right next to the National Security Agency (NSA). It is also the closest major city to Boston, Massachusetts. The area has a lot of historical significance for both the US and Rhode Island, as it was home to the first American Revolutionary War hero in America, John Winthrop. It is a quiet place that has a lot of character and charm. There are not a lot of fancy places to eat and drink. This is because Hillsgrove is an easy-going, country community. You will not find any stores advertising except for a few independent bookstores located on the outskirts of the town. In Hillsgrove, you will find some affordable housing options. Most of the housing units are low rise and come with two or three bedrooms.
